NEW DELHI -- Actor Anuj Saxena on Thursday surrendered before a Delhi Court in connection with a graft case in which bureaucrat B.K. Bansal and his family committed suicide.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Saxena had allegedly played a direct role in bribing Bansal.

Bansal, who committed suicide along with his 31-year-old son in September last year, had in his alleged suicide note, mentioned that his family was tortured by the CBI.

Bansal had named several persons for making his family's life "hell", including CBI DIG Sanjeev Gautam, Superintendent of Police Amrita Kaur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rekha Sangwan and Investigating Officer Harnam Singh, apart from an unnamed head constable.

In July, Bansal was arrested by the CBI on charges of corruption. Hours after he was produced in court, his wife Satyabala and daughter Neha were found hanging in two separate rooms at their residence in Neelkanth Apartments on 22 July.

The Supreme Court earlier in November issued notices to the Centre and the CBI on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the controversial suicide case.
