AIADMK interim general secretary, Sasikala, was today convicted by the Supreme Court in the 19-year-old disproportionate assets case and sentenced to four years in prison. She has also been debarred from contesting elections for the next 6 years, an obvious set back for her aspirations to become chief minister.

Reacting to the verdict, the party took to Twitter and quote Sasikala as saying:

By convicting Sasikala, the apex court set aside the Karnataka High Court's 11 May, 2015 judgment which had acquitted her in the case which also involved former AIADMK supermo and Tamil Nadu chief minister, Jayalalithaa.

As a result, it seems that the deck is clear for her nemesis, O. Panneerselvam to become the chief minister of the state.
