Russian Ambassador To India, Alexander Kadakin, Dies At 68

NEW DELHI -- The Russian ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin, died in Delhi on Thursday at 8.56 in the morning after suffering a cardiac arrest, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said. He was 68.

"RIP Ambassador Alexander Kadakin," ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

"In Kadakin, we lost a valued friend who nurtured India-Russia relationship for many decades as a distinguished Russian diplomat," Swarup said.

Kadakin was the Russian ambassador to India since 2009.
