SRK's 'Raees' Lands In Trouble In Madhya Pradesh Because Of A Comment He Made Two Years Ago

Wah India!

Shah Rukh Khan's just released movie 'Raees' was well prepared to face trouble. In fact, SRK went and met MNS chief Raj Thackeray days ahead of the release to ensure there is no disruption.

However, that was not to be.

On the first day of the release, members of a right wing group tried to stop screening of the movie in Madhya Pradesh theatres. According to reports, members of Hindu Seva Parishad took to streets and burned posters of the lead actor.

So, why were they protesting? Apparently because they are still upset with SRK and his comment on 'intolerance' that he made in 2015.

Heavy police forces deployed outside Samdaria and South Avenue Mall averted protesters' attempts to barge into the mall, reports say. According to reports, the police arrested several demonstrators even as the protests continued.

Two days back, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayavargiya, without naming Shah Rukh Khan, tweeted, "Jo Raees Desh Ka Nahin, Woh Kisi Ka Nahin" (Raees who couldn't be of his own country is of no good). In the same tweet, he supported Hrithik-starrer 'Kaabil' saying, "Aur 'Kaabil' Desh Bhakt ka saath hum sab ko dena chaiye" (And we all should support `"Kaabil" who is patriotic).

Vijayavargiya took potshots at SRK for the same reason-- SRK's comment from two years ago.

In November 2015, the actor has joined the chorus on 'growing intolerance' saying, "religious intolerance and not being secular...is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot".

At that time, the BJP leader had tweeted, "Shahrukh Khan rehte hain Bharat mein par unka man Pakistan mein rahta hai. Unki filmein yahan karoro kamati hain par unhe Bharat asahishnu nazar aata hai. (SRK lives in India, but his heart is in Pakistan. His films make crores of money but he thinks India is intolerant.)"
