21-year-old Ishaan Khatter, who is Shahid Kapoor's half-brother, will be making his debut in Beyond the Clouds, a Hindi-language drama, which will be helmed by internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker, Majid Majidi.
Initially, there were reports that Ishaan might be seen in the Bollywood remake of Sairat but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
Majidi is best known for Children of Heaven, the film which was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language film category. His other projects include The Colour of Paradise, The Song of Sparrows, and the upcoming Muhammad: The Messenger of God.
Majidi was scouting for Indian talent since quite some time and even auditioned Deepika Padukone for a pivotal role in the film. It isn't clear whether Padukone will end up doing the film as the producers have said that the female lead is yet to be cast.
In a statement released to the press, Majidi was quoted as saying:
"Filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, whose work I adore, have represented India's culture, rich heritage and the lives of common people to a global audience. These visions and images have stayed in my mind for years and cajoled me to make a film in India. Finally, I'm in Mumbai with a lovely team to narrate a story woven around the lives of common people."
Majidi also added that Ishaan is a 'wonderful boy' with a 'bright future in the film industry.'
The film's music will be composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman, who was also present on location of Day 1 of the shooting in Mumbai.
