A six-year-old student of the Gyanodaya School in Thane was allegedly beaten up by her class teacher because she had failed to pay her school fees. The teacher had allegedly pulled the girl's hair so hard that she lost a tuft.

Mumbai Mirror quoted Prachi Gupta's father Akhilesh, who owns a photography studio, as saying, "I had gone out for a wedding function as a photographer on Tuesday. When I returned late night, I saw my daughter sitting in a corner, shaking violently and crying. She didn't eat and was refusing to tell anything."

The father told the newspaper that after several hours of persuasion, Prachi managed to point to her hair said she was tugged and dragged through the class by her hair and even slapped many times.

On Wednesday, while Akhilesh managed to pay his daughter's school fees, he was apprehensive that something like this would happen again.

Mumbai Mirror reported that the school had already launched an inquiry into the matter. "If by Thursday the teacher isn't suspended, I shall file the FIR. I don't want the instance to be repeated with my or any other child," he told the newspaper.
