In the wake of Marathi film Sairat's enormous box office success, the Maharashtra Election Commission has roped in its lead stars as its brand ambassadors.

According to the Pune Mirror, Sairat lead actors Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar will be seen on hoardings and banners encouraging more and more young people to vote.

While Thosar, who essayed the role of Parshya in the film, will represent the voter, Rinku aka Archie in the film, will be the face of future voters.

According to the Times of India, the move comes following reports that Maharashtra has fallen behind in youth voter enrolment over the last few years.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has bought Sairat's remake rights. Dharma will reportedly co-produce the film with Zee, the producers behind the original Marathi hit.

Remakes of Sairat that are in the pipeline include those in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, all of which are slated to go on the floor early next year.
