A Pakistani Fan Cheered For His Home Country While Sporting A Dhoni Jersey

On Wednesday, when Australia and Pakistan were playing their second test against each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a Pakistani fan cheered for his country team but in an unusual manner.

The fan came to the ground wearing the green coloured jersey that Pakistan cricketers sport in ODI matches. Except that his jersey did not have the name of Shahid Afridi or Shoaib Malik. In bold letters, his jersey said 'DHONI', with India's limited-over skipper's number (7) on the back.

The picture naturally went viral and won the hearts of cricket fans in both countries.

This is not the first time that a Pakistani fan has shown his love for MS Dhoni.

Mohammad Bashir, a 63-year-old Pakistani now living in Chicago in the US, is a huge Dhoni fan. While Bashir can be spotted in the stands sporting a bright green kurta and cheering for Pakistan almost everywhere they play, during the 2015 World Cup, he switched his allegiance and prayed for Dhoni and India to retain the title. "I love Dhoni, he is my hero," he was once quoted as saying.

But not everyone in Pakistan is celebrated when they support an Indian cricketer.

Earlier this year, a Pakistani fan of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was arrested for hoisting an Indian flag on his rooftop to support his favourite cricketer who was playing against Australia at the time.
