Women And Child Development Ministry To Give National Awards To Anganwadi Workers

NEW DELHI -- Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Sanjay Gandhi will on Thursday confer National Awards to Anganwadi workers for their exceptional achievement.

The award is given to the Anganwadi workers nominated by the states and Union Territories.

An official release said a total of 97 Anganwadi workers from different states and union territories will be conferred award for 2014-15 and 2015-16.

The award comprises of ₹25,000 cash and a citation.

The scheme for awarding Angawadi workers was formulated by the government during the year 2000-2001.
