Remember Pokémon GO? The game and the craze which started in July while the Indian fans waited for weeks for it to officially arrive in the country. While the frenzy has died a bit Pokémon GO is now officially launching in India on 14 December.

Interestingly, Reliance Jio has partnered with the makers of the super hit mobile game. Reliance digital stores will appear as the 'Pokéstops' or the 'Gyms' in the game. Earlier, Niantic had partnered with McDonald's in Japan for the sponsored Pokéstops.

"We are delighted to partner with Jio to launch Pokémon GO in India, It's exciting to see Pokémon fans in India step out and explore their neighbourhoods in search of Pokémon and Jio's disruptive high-speed 4G LTE Network will be an excellent way to experience the game." said John Hanke, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Niantic.

The company is planning to release a major update in December which would bring 100 new Pokemon to the game as well as the long-awaited feature of trading the Pokemon between the players. The update will bring ability for players to raise the Pokemon as soon as they are hatched from the eggs.

Jio is opening a special channel on its application Jio chat related to the game where players can trade secrets, tips, tricks and the probable location of the Pokemon.

"With over 500 million downloads globally, we are excited to launch Pokémon GO officially in India on the Reliance Jio network. Our partnership with Niantic not only brings access to the Pokémon GO app but also opens the door to more opportunities for our customers to enjoy content on Jio's one-of-a-kind mobile broadband network," Mathew Oommen, President Reliance Jio.

Pokemon Go was originally launched in July and it shot to number 1 ranking on the App store and Play store very soon. The success was so high that at one point in time it was used more than Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
