Xiaomi is powering ahead in India posting eye-popping sales figures every quarter. The third quarter in the current financial year seems to have been the most profitable for the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. It sold over 2 million phones between July and September 2016.

The icing on the cake was the sales figure for the month of October, with Xiaomi selling over one million smartphones in this period. The Diwali sale on Mi.com and other e-commerce websites have fetched impressive figures for the company.

"We crossed 2 million plus sales in one-quarter in the third quarter for the first time, compared with our performance last year, we have attained more than 150 percent growth year-on-year," said Manu Jain, Xiaomi's India head of operations.

The impressive numbers have earned the company the fourth spot in India smartphone shipment rankings, according to a recently published report by the International Data Corporation. The report states that Xiaomi has achieved a market share of 7.4 percent in India, just 0.1 percent behind the third placed Micromax. With its strong October performance, the company is probably hoping to beat the Indian smartphone maker in the next quarter.

Xiaomi sold half a million smartphones in the first three days of October. It has notched a million-plus smartphone sales figure in every quarter this year, achieving 150 percent growth in sales compared to the last year.

Xiaomi is increasing its sales by following multiple approaches. After opening a manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh, it is now planning to open more units in partnership with Foxconn. The company is also keen on expanding its offline presence. It recently launched the Redmi 3S+ smartphone, which will be available exclusively in retail stores. Redmi Note 3 has been among the most successful phones for the company, selling over 2.3 million units in India. Other budget smartphone offerings such as Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime have been hugely successful since their launch in July as well.
