Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise announcement on 8 November, demonetising ₹500 and ₹1,000 notes, the government has amended the rules for the transition process several times. It has extended the timeline for using the old notes, miscalculated how much time it needs to "normalise" the situation, assured people that it would relax the upper limit for exchanging old currency notes and then changed its mind — the list is long and the surprises continue to come.
While the grievances (and even, in some cases, deaths) caused by the government's flip flops are serious, with the elderly and poor disproportionally affected by the move, some have found humour to deal with the situation.
