One of the worst accidents to have taken place in India in recent years, the Indore-Patna Express tragedy saw the deaths of over 120 people when 14 coaches from the train derailed near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the accident is believed to have happened due to a 'rail fracture', caused by expansion and contraction of tracks because of the changing weather.

The accident, which took place at about 3 am on Sunday, saw several bodies trapped under the derailed coaches, with the police, locals, ambulances as well as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) trying to save lives.
