Mamata Banerjee: The West Bengal chief minister is not one to mince her words. After leading a march to the President's House over the notes ban she said, "Initially ATM meant "all time money" now it is 'aayega tab milega' (you'll get it when it comes)." She also said thatshe had requested the President to speak to the government and bring back normalcy in the country.

Ram Gopal Yadav: Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav had an ominous warning for Prime Minister Modi. He said women in villages were so unhappy with the demonetisation they might get violent on meeting Modi. "If you go to villages today to ask for votes, women will pick up their belans (rolling pins) beat him," he said.

Anand Sharma: Slamming the government over demonetisation, the Congress leader said, "Everyone claims to be a surgeon today, without ever performing a surgery. Everything is a surgical strike nowadays." He added, "You have created financial anarchy in this country with your decision. Which law allows you to stop us from withdrawing our own money from the banks?"

Sitaram Yechury: The CPI(M) leader said in the Rajya Sabha that decision on demonetisation had done nothing to eradicate black money. "Small fish are dying, the crocodiles are all surviving," he said. "Unless you tackle the supply side of corruption, you cannot stop corruption in this country."

Sharad Yadav: Claiming pickpocketing was on the rise, the JD(U) leader blamed the government saying, "Aapne khud hi Bharat bandh karwa diya (you have managed to impose an all India strike)."
