Over a 100 members of the Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch protested in their underclothes against the government on Tuesday for not installing Babasaheb Ambedkar's statue in the Gujarat University campus in Ahmedabad.

According to a report in the Ahmedabad Mirror, the Dalit activists had met with university administration officials last week to talk about installing a statue of Ambedkar in the campus, but had received no answers.

The Dalit group's leader told Mirror that they had also demanded that the Law Bhawan at the university be renamed after the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The Ahmedabad police has detained about 25 protestors for protesting without seeking permission.
