The brand Vivo has made its mark both in the Indian and the global smartphone market. Sitting pretty at 5th position in the world smartphone shipping chart, the company decided to launch its latest offering, Vivo V5, in India today.
The V5 focuses heavily on its selfie taking component probably because its competitor, Oppo, also launched the Oppo F1S recently, featuring a front-camera.
The phone's highlight is certainly a 20 MP camera on the front with a Sony sensor and a flashlight, called 'moonlight'. The Face Beauty mode 6.0 software balances out the selfie enhancements, making it more natural looking.
Although Vivo highlighted V5's design in its presentation, the phone looks ordinary in real life. The front looks like every third smartphone, sporting a fingerprint sensor. The display comprises a 5.5 inch HD screen with curved edged 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone's back, which looks almost like an iPhone, has a 13 MP shooter.
Under the hood, the V5 runs on a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek processor supported by 4 GB of RAM. The smartphone's 32 GB internal memory capacity can be upped to 128 GB through the mircoSD card.
However, its 3,000 mAh battery capacity is kind of low considering that the 5.5 inch HD display is dependent on it. The phone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with FunTouch OS customisation on top, which offers features such as a split screen and night mode.
The phone is priced at ₹17,980 and can be pre-ordered from 16 to 25 November. After 25 November, the V5 will be available in stores across India. During their presentation, Vivo mentioned that they have over 32,000 retail stores and 5 million customers in India.
