It is in common practice among political parties in opposition to criticise and oppose decisions made by the government in the country. It has been widely reported that BJP, which is now supporting the government's move with gusto, had a completely different view on demonetisation in 2014. Arvind Kerjiwal has alleged that BJP had let the party's 'friends' know about the decision to demonetise beforehand. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who had declared that the move was a 'Draconian decision', has said that she is ready to team up with even the CPM and Congress to fight this government's move.

However, in case her voice drowned in the din of protests, Banerjee decided that she will take a more impactful route. And that is of writing a poem.

So she wrote a poem admonishing Narendra Modi for this demonetisation move and then concluded it by saying the country will give him triple talaq. Thepoem is in Bengali and we will paraphrase parts of it so that you can brighten up your drab day.

The first stanza calls the move cruel and thoughtless and venomous like a poisoned arrow. Then in the third stanza he goes on to accuse the government of turning people into beggars. "You have turned everyone into beggars overnight, now you are an autocrat, you have implied poor people are black money hoarders, and you are king," it says.

It then complains why the move was so unplanned that it hit the poor so grievously. She the accuses the government of being deaf to the cries of the poor.

In the final paragraph, she says that the people the government has duped while pretending to be saintly and concerned, will give them a triple talaq (divorce) in the coming days.
