The preceding 18 months saw a presidential campaign riddled with accusations, name-calling, threats, ridiculing and neck-to-neck fight between the nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. And on Tuesday night, America voted and declared Donald Trump as its next -- the 45th President of the United States.

The Internet seemed to have gone into a shell-shock but our world leaders proved to be more graceful. PM Narendra Modi was one of the first leaders to congratulate Donald Trump on his historic win.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi congratulated the newly-elected President and said, "Italy's friendship with U.S. is solid," as reported in Reuters UK.
