Surat-Based Diamond Tycoon Distributes 1,716 Cars, 400 Flats As Diwali Bonus To His Employees

Savji Dholakia, the Surat-based diamond merchant known for his very generous Diwali gifts to his employees, has given 400 flats and 1,260 cars as Diwali bonuses to his staff this year.

According to IANS, Dholakia selected 1,716 best-performing employees in his organisation and offered them flats in the company's own housing scheme at "dirt cheap" prices.

"Our aim is that each employee must have his own home and car in the next five years," Dholakia was quoted as saying by Scroll.

According to Business Today Dholakia's company, Hare Krishna Exports, has spent over ₹51 crore on this year's Diwali bonuses.

Hare Krishna Exporters employs more than 5,500 people and has an annual turnover of over ₹6,000 crore.

Dholakia had earned the awe of social media in June this year, when he sent his 21-year-old son to Kochi to learn about life by making a living doing only odd jobs.

Last year, at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Dholakia had shared his secret to success:

"Illiteracy is the primary reason for my success as it pushes me to learn every day. My team and I have grabbed every opportunity to learn. We apply all that we learn from events, programmes and daily life."
