Now Book A Cab Directly From Google Search

Just a single tap away.

Google has released a new feature that lets you book a cab directly from the search engine's website. Currently, Uber and Ola are the only taxi services available for bookings.

Users can see the available cab options against the destination in the mobile browser or the search app. They can check the prices for OLA and Uber, and click on their choice. The browser then takes the user to the Ola or Uber app. If the app is not installed, the user is prompted to install it though the Play Store.

Cabs can be booked through the Google Maps app already, after this feature was introduced earlier this year. The cab-hailing process is likely to get further streamlined in the coming years when Google rolls out Instant Apps, altogether doing away with the need to install an app to perform a particular transaction.

"Choosing the best transit option can be a task at times, our aim is to help users simplify their everyday travel," Sanket Gupta, Program Manager, Google told HuffPost India. "With this, users will be able to order, explore and make quick comparisons about the best-estimated taxi fare directly from Google Search results on their mobile."

Users can narrow their search for a specific cab as well. For instance, the search will support "Uber for Mumbai Central Station" or "Ola for Rajiv Chowk metro station".

Ola recently announced a feature wherein consumers can book a cab through the app without any Internet connection via SMS. Uber, on the other hand, has a website for booking cabs -- dial.uber.com.
