Software Engineer Slips And Drowns While Clicking Selfie In Odisha

ODISHA -- Posing for a selfie cost a 25-year-old software engineer his life as he fell into a river and drowned in Odisha's Gajapati district, police said.

The deceased, identified as R. Pattanaik of Kamakhya Nagar area in Parlakhemundi, was taking selfie by climbing on boulders and trees along Mahendratanaya river on Wednesday evening when he slipped and fell into the water, Inspector incharge of Parlakhemundi police station, Babuli Nayak said.

The fire brigade personnel carried out a search operation soon after the incident that took place near B N Palace to trace Pattanaik, who worked in an IT company in Bengaluru, the IIC said.

His body was recovered about 100 meters from the spot, he said adding police has registered an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.
