This Priyanka Chopra Travel Mag Cover Has Offended Many

Some, however, have backed it and suggested that people may be misinterpreting its message.

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been making waves in the United States with her ongoing TV series Quantico and her role in the upcoming film Baywatch, recently posed for the cover of a travel magazine.

The photograph showcases the 34-year-old actress in a tank top, with the following words printed on it:

Refugee

Immigrant

Outsider

Traveller

Twitter was abuzz with negative comments about Chopra, saying that she was gloating about her privilege and was being insensitive towards the feelings of refugees and immigrants who are often labeled as 'outsiders'.

Some social media users even 'fixed' the caption:

While most of the comments revolved around the magazine as well as Chopra's 'insensitivity', there were others who thought that the message could have been misinterpreted.

A Hindustan Times article said that the magazine's message could have been that a refugee, an immigrant or an outsider should be simply called 'travellers', and not be looked down upon.

Similarly, a Fishbowl NY article says that the t-shirt could simply be a representation of one person's "empowered personal progression".

As of now, neither Chopra nor the magazine Condé Nast Traveller have issued any clarifying statements regarding the same.
