Motorola today launched its modular flagship smartphones Moto Z and Moto Z Play in India. The Lenovo-owned company is targeting premium segment of customers by pricing the phones at ₹39,999 and ₹24,999 respectively.

Moto Z was originally announced at Lenovo Tech world event, alongside Moto Z Force, which took place in June. Later, at the IFA conference in Berlin the company revealed a more affordable Moto Z Play version. Due to its high price point, Moto India has decided to skip the Moto Z Force version (it costs $720 in the US).

Both the phone have pins on the back where you can attach the modules. The company announced pricing for all the mods as well. The Incipio offGRID battery extender mod costs ₹5,999 which would increase your battery life by almost 40%. The JBL boombox speaker mod costs ₹6,999 and the Hasselblad camera mod costs a whopping ₹19,999 (that's the price of Lenovo's own Lenovo Z2 Plus).

There is a pico projector mod as well which creates a 70-inch projection on the wall at 480p. The insta-share porjector mod costs ₹19,999. There are couple of stylish back covers as well. The one with the leather surface costs ₹1,599 and the one with ballistic nylon costs ₹1,099.

A lot of phones in this category such as OnePlus 3, Xiaomi Mi5 and Lenovo Z2 Plus are running on Snapdragon 820. The phone has a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It has a headphone jack as well unline Moto Z.

On the other hand, Moto Z is the flagship product which is just 5.19mm thick. Much of it goes to the credit of the absence of the headphone jack. It has a 5.5-inch QHD display powered by a Snapdragon 820. It has a RAM of 4GB and the internal storage of 64GB.

The camera sensor at the rear is of 13MP with an impressive f/1.8 aperture. Moto has included laser autofocus and optical image stabilisation (OIS) for better image quality. The front camera is 5MP with f/2.2 aperture with a flash. The phone has a 2600 mAh battery with support for fast charging.
