Mi Band has ceded the bestselling slot to GoQii.

Xiaomi launched the upgraded version of its bestselling Mi Band fitness tracker in India. Mi Band 2, which was first launched in China in June, was unveiled at an event in New Delhi. The fitness tracker is priced at ₹1,999.

Unlike the screen-less Mi Band, the new version has an OLED screen that displays the time, number of steps taken, distances, app alerts and phone call alerts.

Also included in Mi Band 2 is a heartbeat monitor for better fitness tracking and an improved pedometer algorithm. Another area of improvement is sleep tracking with a better analysis.

Xiaomi says that Mi Band 2 will last 20 days without charging, an impressive advantage over its competitor GoQii which claims to have a battery life of over 10 days.

The band works with both Android and iOS smartphones through the Mi Fit app. It also has an IP67 certification which makes it splash proof, though you can't take your Mi Band 2 swimming.

Mi Band was the leading wearable in India in Q1 of 2016. However, it was pushed to the second place by the Indian fitness band manufacturer GoQii in Q2.

Xiaomi will be selling Mi Band 2 on its website Mi.com from 27 September in India. It will also be available on the Amazon website from 30 September.

The company has also unveiled its first smart-home product, the Mi Air Purifier 2 in India. The purifier, produced under the Mi Ecosystem sub-brand, is priced at ₹9,999.
