A day after British forensic agency Jason Payne-James said in its findings that Jiah Khan's suicide was staged, prime accused in the case, Sooraj Pancholi, who was dating the actress at the time leading to her death, has given an interview to Bombay Times.
In the interview, Pancholi, who was charged by the CBI for abetting Khan's suicide, has said that he deserves a fair trial so that he can move on with his life.
He told BT, "My case has been a media trial since day one. Things have been in the papers before reaching the court, and sometimes in the papers without the court being aware. But enough is enough, if someone wants justice, they will get it in due time. I hope they get justice. Even I want to know what the truth is. People should understand that even I have lost a dear one."
While Pancholi has been charged under Section 306 (abetment to suicide), Khan's mother, Rabiya, has repeatedly said that Pancholi should be charged with murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
The actor, who was launched by Salman Khan last year in Nikhil Advani's Hero, ranted against the media for 'targeting' him and stalling the progress of his Bollywood career.
He said, "Whenever something good is happening in my life, personally or professionally, someone tries to put me down. It gets difficult. You cannot accuse someone of a crime, without knowing the facts."
Pancholi, who is currently out on bail, said he has 'no hard feelings' for anyone and just wants to 'live his life.'
He said, "No accused asks for his trial to begin, but I'm asking to open the trial soon. Whatever the accusation, I deserve a fair trial, so that I can move on in life. These things are planned to target my progress and stop my daily life."
On June 3, 2013, Jiah Khan, 25, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the bedroom of her Juhu residence. She left behind a note which was instrumental in the CBI charging Pancholi for abetting her suicide.
