While India issued a strict warning to Pakistan today after summoning its High Commissioner Abdul Basit and told him it has seized evidence showing involvement of Pak-based terrorists in the Uri attack, China said it will continue to stand with Pakistan.
During his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the UNGA meet, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said his country would stand with Pakistan, Geo News reported.
"We support Pakistan and will speak for Pakistan at every forum," he said.
The Chinese premier hoped that there will be a better understanding of Pakistan's position on Kashmir by the international community. "We are ready to play constructive role in improvement of relations between Pakistan and India," the Chinese Premier added.
Calling Pakistan and China "iron brothers", he said that China will speak for Pakistan at every forum.
Meanwhile, two powerful American lawmakers have introduced a bill in the US House of Representatives to designate Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism.
The 'Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation Act (HR 6069) has been moved by Republican Ted Poe and Democrat Dana Rohrabacher, who is a ranking member of the influential Congressional Committee on Terrorism.
"It is time we stopped paying Pakistan for its betrayal and designate it for what it is: a state sponsor of terrorism," said Poe, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism.
"Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the US for years," Poe said.
"From harbouring Osama bin Laden to its cozy relationship with the Haqqani network, there is more than enough evidence to determine whose side Pakistan is on in the War on Terror. And it's not America's," he alleged.
In a release, India's External Affairs Ministry, beginning with the Pathankot airbase attack, there have been continuous attempts by armed terrorists to cross the LoC and International Boundary in order to carry out attacks in India.
"Seventeen such attempts have been interdicted at or around the LoC, resulting in the elimination of thirty one terrorists and preventing their intended acts of terrorism.
Foreign Secretary also reminded him that even as he spoke two engagements at the LoC were ongoing," it said.
