Donald Trump suggested at a rally Friday that Hillary Clinton’s bodyguards should stop protecting her because of her views on gun control.

“She’s very much against the Second Amendment,” Trump said in Miami. “She wants to destroy your Second Amendment. Guns, guns, guns, right? I think what we should do is, she goes around with armed bodyguards like you have never seen before. I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons, they should disarm. I think they should disarm immediately.”

“Take their guns away,” he continued. “She doesn’t want guns. Let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, OK, it would be very dangerous.”

Robby Mook, campaign manager for Hillary for America, said in a statement released Friday night that Trump’s remarks follow a pattern of “inciting people to violence.” “It is an unacceptable quality in anyone seeking the job of Commander in Chief,” he added.

“This kind of talk should be out of bounds for a presidential candidate,” Mook said. “[Trump] is unfit to be President and it is time Republican leaders stand up and denounce this disturbing behavior in their nominee.”

It’s not the first time Trump has made an irresponsible joke about violence toward his Democratic opponent. In August, he suggested “Second Amendment people” could assassinate Clinton if she is elected and appoints justices to the Supreme Court.

“If she gets to pick her judges ― nothing you can do, folks,” Trump said in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Aug. 9. “Although, the Second Amendment people. Maybe there is. I don’t know.”

And in January, he challenged Clinton to disarm her bodyguards herself to prove that guns don’t increase safety:

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
