Production house Phantom Films will be producing a film based on one of the greatest Indian sporting victories ever: when Kapil Dev's boys defeated the mighty West Indies to lift the cricket World Cup in 1983.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report published Wednesday, Kabir Khan will be at the helm of affairs. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan director, who is currently shooting Tubelight with Salman Khan, will get started on the film later this year.

An unnamed source quoted in the article confirmed this development and added that the original members of the 'dream team' — which, aside from Dev, included Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Madan Lal, Syed Kirmani, and Krishnamachari Srikkanth — will be closely associated with the project, acting as mentors to actors playing them.

The source added: "The film will be shot in various locations because not only will the run-up to the finals be recreated, but it will also uncover the roots of these unlikely heroes including their Jat captain who took a running catch to dismiss Sir Vivian Richards for 33."

Can't. Hardly. Wait.
