In a series of tweets on Wednesday, wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt relinquished his claim on his bronze London 2012 Olympics medal being upgraded to silver.
Dutt's bronze medal has been upgraded after second-place finisher, the late Besik Kudukhov of Russia, was stripped of his medal for failing a doping test.
The wrestler stated on his official Twitter handle that he respected the Russian wrestler Kudukhov and wanted, if possible, for his family to retain the medal.
Kudukhov, who died on 29 December 2013 in a car crash in Russia, was found guilty of doping violation in the wake of the decision by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to retest samples from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 Games.
Dutt had lost to Kudukhov in the pre-quarterfinals at London 2012 Olympics. But once the Russian advanced to the final, Yogeshwar got another chance in the repechage round and went on to win the bronze medal.
