Xiaomi has launched a robotic vacuum cleaner under Mi Ecosystem branding. The device is developed by a company called RockRobo which is a part of the Mi Ecosystem.
Mi Robot Vacuum is a smart device which maps the home and cleans it continuously and avoiding any obstacles. The company has loaded the device with multiple sensors for location awareness and better performance. Mi Robot Vacuum has 12 Laser Distance Sensors (LDS), gyroscope, a cliff sensor to avoid staircases, ultrasonic radar sensor to avoid animals, and an accelerometer.
To provide more location stability there are three dedicated processors in the device to calculate the location. Additionally, it uses Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) for better cleaning. This algorithm helps in mapping unknown territories with updated location of the device.
It has a battery power of 5200 mAh, which allows it to clean the house for 2.5 hours in a single charge. Which is good for a small sized house. And the brushes which are used in the device adjusts the height automatically according to the cleaning surface it encounters.
The robot can be paired with the Mi home app as well. The consumers can control and monitor the path of the device and set up the cleaning schedules as well.
The cleaning robot will be available for RMB 1699 for (Rs.17,000 approx) from 6 September in China. With this price point, it is expected to give competition to cleaning robots of the known brands such as iRobot Roomba.
