Senior Congress Party leader Mani Shankar Aiyar was chased out of a hospital in Srinagar on Thursday, accompanied with slogans of "Go India Go Back."

On Friday, The Indian Express reported out of a group of 10 individuals, who visited Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, Aiyar and journalist Prem Shankar Jha were heckled by attendants and volunteers.

"We don't shake hands with murderers," attendants told Aiyar, the newspaper reported.

Aiyar's visit comes in the backdrop of persisting violence in the Kashmir Valley, triggered by the killing of militant Burhan Wani by Indian security forces in July. The violence has, so far, claimed the lives of almost 70 people and resulted in an unprecedented number of days of curfew.

The former union minister had reportedly gone to the hospital to "assess the damage" done by pellet guns, which shoot out ball bearings made of lead, and have caused hundreds of eyes injuries.
