Sakshi Malik ended India's 11-day medal drought at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday when she defeated Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova in Women's Freestyle 58 kg wrestling. As reported by ANI, Sakshi's proud parents could not help but erupt with joy and start celebrating. Twitter, like always, was there to wish the much-deserving wrestler.
Malik did not have an ideal start. She was trailing 0-5 to Tynybekova but fought back to pull up her score to 5-5, eventually defeating her opponent 8-5 to claim the bronze medal.
