When Is The Olympics 2016 Opening Ceremony?

From today, world's biggest sports extravaganza is starting. This night will mark the beginning of the Olympics being held in Brazil.

The 2016 Olympic opening ceremony will be taking place tonight at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The starting time of the opening ceremony is 4.30 AM IST on Saturday (2300 GMT).

You can follow the event live by multiple means where Shooter Abhinav Bindra will be carrying the flag for the Indian contingent.

Star Sports is the official broadcaster of the event in India. All the channels of Star Sports will be broadcasting the opening ceremony live including Start Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and their HD versions.

If you don't want to switch on your TV, you can follow the same broadcast at the start sports website. Their partner website and app Hotstar will also be streaming the ceremony and later the clips from the different games.

A total of 205 countries is participating in 306 events in this edition of the games. The event which is held across 37 venues will span almost two weeks. The closing ceremony will take place on 21 August.

India has sent their biggest team ever of over 100 athletes. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the team and wished them success.
