Xiaomi today launched a great phone in the budget range smartphones named Xiaomi Redmi 3S. The company also launched its slightly upgraded variant Redmi 3S prime as well. Redmi 3S is priced at ₹6999 while the Redmi 3S prime is available at ₹8999.
Redmi 3S will give all the phones a run for their money in the sub-₹10000 category. The highlights of the phone are a battery with 4100 mAh capacity, metal body and a great camera for its price.
The phone is running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 which is the first in the Indian market. Both the variants sport a 5-inch full HD display and an IR blaster.
The rear camera of the phone is of 13 MP with PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) technology and the front camera is of 5 MP which good for a budget level phone.
Redmi 3S has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. On the other hand, Redmi 3S prime has 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and a fingerprint sensor on the back. Which is pretty rare for a phone launching at this price point.
Both the phones are the newest edition to the Redmi family after successful Redmi Note 3. Xiaomi's global VP Hugo Barra had pointed out that within 60 days of the launch the company had sold almost 6 lakh units of Redmi Note 3 indicating that the phone is very popular in the country.
The phone will be available in Mi.com and Flipkart from 9 August. There is no pre-registration required for buying the phone.
Xiaomi launched their giant 6.44-inch phone Mi Max in June in India. A total of 1.5 million units has been sold since its launch in China.
The company is rumoured to launch their first VR headset compatible with Google daydream standards in China this Thursday.
