Zopo Launches India's First Smartphone With A 10-Core Processor

The Chinese smartphone makers are using a deca-core Mediatek chip. They claim that Speed 8 is world's first deca-core phone.

Chinese smartphone makers Zopo launched their smartphone Speed 8 with a 10-core processor today in India. At an event which was held in Delhi Zopo made their entrance in the Indian market by claiming to launch world's first deca-core smartphone at ₹29990.

Speed 8 uses a Mediatek Helios X20 chip. The same chip is rumored to be in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 which is launching in China soon. The price point pits it against one of the popular smartphones in India OnePlus 3.

The design of the phone is quite impressive with a 5.5 inch HD screen and

two front facing speakers. Phones with dual front facing speakers such as HTC M8 and Nexus 6P has always been lauded by the critics and fans alike.

Another impressive inclusion from Zopo is of a 21 MP camera. But the software behind will have to justify what is there on the specsheet. Although the camera has PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) it misses the stabilization technology such as OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) which is present in OnePlus 3.

Speed 8 also has NFC (Near Field Communication) support and a fingerprint sensor. The company has avoided the flash sales model and has made the phone available offline and online straight away.

More and more Chinese manufacturers are stepping into India to sell their smartphones. Zopo is the newest entrant to the growing list of Chinese smartphone companies present in India.
