There is a lot of excitement and hype around the Xiaomi event scheduled for 27 July. It is likely that the company will release their first two laptops at the event, along with the Redmi Note 4 phone. This will mark Xiaomi's debut in the laptop market.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will have an upgraded processor and an improved battery life as compared to its predecessor Redmi Note 3. The phone is will feature a deca-core processor from MediaTek, called Helios X20. As it happens, another smartphone company is launching Zopo Speed 8 in India on Wednesday, which claims to be the world's first deca-core phone.
The phone will have a 4100 mAh battery life and, retaining the features of Redmi Note 3, will come with a 5.5-inch HD display, 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera. Xiaomi's global VP, Hugo Barra, said that the company has successfully sold 6 lakh units of Redmi Note 3 in India in the 60 days since its launch.
The Chinese company will also be debuting as laptop makers. According to reports, they are launching two variants at the 27 July event. The two models will have a 11-inch and a 13-inch screen respectively.
The higher end variant might sport an HD display along with an 8 GB RAM. Both laptops will run on Windows 10 and have USB C support.
In China, Xiaomi is diversifying by launching products in new categories. Last month, they launched a foldable electric bicycle which can run for up to 40-50 km on one charge. You can also pedal it to recharge the battery. And recently, they introduced a portable mosquito repellent.
Back in India, Xiaomi launched Mi Max on 30 June and after holding two flash sales, they have begun selling them through regular online channels. They have also partnered with two companies to make their phones available in offline stores. Soon, as many as 5000 brick and mortar stores will be selling Xiaomi phones.
