Kim Kardashian took to Snapchat on Sunday night to rehash the ongoing feud between her husband, Kanye West, and Taylor Swift over a controversial lyric in the rapperâs song âFamous.â
The 45-second clip featured a phone call between West and Swift where the pop star appeared to thank him for letting her know of his plans to include at least part of the now-storied line: âI feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous.â Though it should be noted, West isnât heard telling Swift of his plans to include the second half of the line.
West: âFor all my south side n****s that know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.â
...
Swift: Itâs like a compliment.
West: All I give a fuck about is you as a person and as a friend. I donât want to do rap that makes people feel bad.
Swift: Go with whatever line you think is better. Itâs obviously very tongue-in-cheek. I really appreciate you telling me about it, thatâs really nice ... I really appreciate it, the heads-up is so nice.
West has long defended himself, saying he had an âhour-long convoâ with Swift ahead of the songâs release where he told her about the lyric. Swift has denied giving any such approval, using a speech during the Grammys to call out those who âundercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.â
Late Sunday, Swift promptly fired back at the video, saying she wasnât told the call was being recorded while noting that the âbitchâ line wasnât played for her, or mentioned.
âIt doesnât exist because it never happened,â the singer wrote on social media. âYou donât get to control someoneâs entire emotional response to being called âthat bitchâ in front of the entire world.â
If Swift wasnât told the call was being recorded, Kardiashian and West may have broken the law. In California, where the couple live, wiretapping laws require two-party consent jurisdiction, meaning both caller and receiver need to know a phone conversation is being recorded.
In an interview with GQ released last month, Kardashian told reporter Caity Weaver the video existed because Kanye âcommissions videographers to film everything when heâs recording an album.â Itâs unclear in the footage posted Sunday if Swift was notified that she was being recorded before the filming started.
