This Pune NGO Is Enabling Drought Affected Kids To Get Educated

In an exemplary humanitarian gesture, a Pune based non-governmental organisation (NGO) has decided to help with the education of 200 children of drought-affected farmers in the Beed district of Maharashtra.

Pune-based Niranjan Sevabhavi Sanstha has taken the initiative to educate 200 kids belonging to not so well-to-do families of Beed, one the worst drought affected districts in the country.

Jayesh B Kasat, the NGO President told HuffPost India, "We have provided 200 kids with all the basic necessities like uniform, books, pencils, school bags, raincoats etc. till now and we aim at educating 500 kids by next year."

"50 more kids will be given these basics on 31 July, 2016," he said.

Niranjan Sevabhavi Sanstha began with a total of 35 members in 2012. The NGO helped educate 154 children in 2015.

"Many local residents and city organisations have come forward to support this initiative," Kasat added. "People provide us with raw materials like water bottles, notebooks, pencils, while many others provide financial assistance for these things."
