Till now the base model of iPhone had 16 GB of internal storage. But a report from WSJ suggests that it won't be the case for the next iPhone launching this year. It will have a 32 GB base model. The 16 GB variant was the first introduced in 2008 with iPhone 3GS.
Last year, iPhone 6s was launched in 3 variants. The storages for those editions were 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. But now the iPhone 7 will start from 32 GB. Another rumored model is 128 GB. While the 5.5-inch plus sized model can have a 256 GB version as well.
The WSJ post confirms on a lot of other rumors as well. The biggest one apart from the base storage is ditching of the headphone jack. From several months there were many reports that Apple is not going to use 3.5 mm jack in their next iPhone.
Instead, it will use the lightning adapter as the headphone jack. Already a couple of smartphone makers have opted for USB-C headphones. LeEco recently launched two phones in India without the headphone jack. The Chinese company is using a proprietary technology called CDLA (Continual Lossless Digital Audio) along with USB C port. Motorola also followed the suit with their newly launched modular duo of Moto Z and Moto Z force.
Reports have also claimed that the new iPhone won't have many design changes. But due to the removal of the headphone jack the phone will certainly be thinner and more water resistant.
iPhone camera has been the highlight of the Apple smartphone from years and it seems that another upgrade is coming our way. The next iteration would have the dual lens camera which will give more depth and details to the pictures and videos. Another source claimed that the iPhone plus model will have a bigger 3100 mAh battery.
The Cupertino-based smartphone maker will reportedly be switching to a faster A10 processor. For the chip manufacturing, it has decided to split the work between Qualcomm and Intel.
