A delivery boy for Flipkart who was working with a third party vendor is now arrested for cheating the company. This person named B Naveen replaced iPhones in the orders with the fake phones and returned it to Flipkart. He has replaced almost 12 iPhones with the fake phones till now.
Naveen faked the iPhone orders to the fake address and once he got the package he replaced them with dummy phones and returned it to Flipkart. On returning the phone he used to tell Flipkart that the customer is not satisfied with the product.
He had started working with the third party logistic firm three to four months ago. The 21-year-old graduate had been recruited in Chennai for the delivery job. He was arrested after running the scam for months. He was arrested on Sunday after the warehouse owner Vetriselvam lodged a complaint against him.
"This incident involves a third party delivery executive who was found guilty of duping Flipkart. The executive has been arrested and necessary action is being taken by the law enforcement authorities," Flipkart said in a statement.
"First, he ordered one phone using a fake address and replaced it with a phone, a china model he bought from Ritchie street and sent it back to the warehouse saying that it was returned by the customer. As he didn't get caught, he followed it up twice by ordering in bulk," Police told The New Indian Express.
The company noticed the number of returns from the one area and found this dubious. Naveen had almost cost the e-commerce giants 5 lakh rupees.
This is not the first case when someone has cheated an e-commerce company with the fake phones. In June, two people were arrested for cheating Amazon with fake phones. They ordered the iPhones with fake email IDs and then replaced them with tempered packages which they used to return.
