Hindustani classical singer and exponent of the Gwalior gharana Veena Sahasrabuddhe passed away in Pune following a prolonged illness. The 67-year-old singer, who passed away at her residence on Thursday, is survived by her husband, son and daughter.

The Indian Air Force is set to raise the first squadron of home-grown Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas with the induction of two aircraft into the force in Bengaluru today. The Tejas aircraft will feature in combat plan of the IAF next year and will be deployed in forward bases as well.

Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu who plays for the Norwegan team Stabaek FC has become the first Indian to appear in a premier European club competition. He had created a record last month, when he became the first Indian to appear in a top flight European League game.
