Twenty-four-year-old Divyashree Naik fell off a motorbike in Mumbai and came under the wheels of a tanker, which took her life. Naik was riding pillion and the driver of the motorbike has sustained minor injuries.

Incidents like these, unfortunately, are reported with alarming frequency in Mumbai during the monsoons. Roads rendered dangerously slippery from constant rainfall multiple the chances of meeting with accidents around this time. Naik's story, however, comes with a doubly morbid twist. Exactly a year ago, her father died the same way she did - he fell off a bike and was crushed under the wheels of a heavy vehicle.

According to a report on Mid-Day, Naik was supposed to begin training with the Mumbai Police police in the next 15 days.

A class X pass-out, who had dropped out of school, Naik had even taken the class XII exams to be able to take up the job. Relatives told Mid-Day that she had started taking typing classes too.

The police job was offered to Naik after her father died while still being employed with the Mumbai Police.

Naik was the only child of her parents and leaves behind her widowed mother.
