Probe Ordered Into Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's Selfies With Lions At Gir

Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has landed in a controversy after posting pictures of himself with lions at the Gir National Park and Sanctuary.

The photographs, which went viral on social media, show Jadeja violating the park's rule that forbids visitors from getting out of the safari vehicles they are travelling in, while inside the park. The photos, shared by Jadeja on his official Instagram account, show him and his wife Rivaba Solanki, on the ground, posing in front of a pride of Asiatic lions.

According to the Times of India, the forest department has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Chief conservator of forests AP Singh, who confirmed that Jadeja and his friends had visited Sasan Gir on 14 and 15 June, told TOI, "We have got photographs that show that he got down from his jeep and took photographs. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) JA Khan and PCCF Dinesh Mishra have taken note of this incident and have been asked to inquire into it. I have asked the Deputy Conservator of Forest (Headquarters) Ram Ratan Nala to conduct a probe and send a report."

Earlier this year in April, Jadeja was in news after a relative of his was booked by the police for allegedly firing a gunshot in the air during the cricketer's wedding celebrations in Rajkot.
