While everyone in India is crazy excited about Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone's Hollywood debuts, Nimrat Kaur, who shot to global fame with The Lunchbox and followed it up with an important role in the Emmy-winning TV show Homeland, is quietly climbing up the ranks in the West.

The actress was signed up for a role in the second season of the M. Night Shyamalan-produced Wayward Pines, an undoubtedly spooky TV show starring Matt Dilon and Melissa Leo. While the show hasn't attained over-the-top mainstream success, it enjoys a niche audience and has earned a fair amount of critical acclaim with a 79 per cent 'Fresh' rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on Blake Crouch's book by the same name, Wayward Pines' debut season premiered May last year, while the one that features Nimrat Kaur -- Season 2 -- went on air on May 25, 2016.

Set in an eerie town full of mysterious people, the show can best be described as a cross between a utopian nightmare and a dystopian fantasy, with strong elements of science-fiction expertly weaved in. It imagines a seemingly idyllic town with just one major flaw -- that you cannot escape from there, neither can you ask any questions about how it functions.

Saying anything about the new season (hint: it's officially year 4032) would entail giving away crucial spoilers.

Since only a few episodes of the second season have premiered, it's hard to tell what Nimrat Kaur's character graph is like, but it sure seems lengthy and promising.

About her character, Kaur had told DNA in an interview, "I am playing the part of a girl called Rebecca Yedlin who's an architect and it's very mysterious and you know like cards that unfold episode after episode and towards end of the season you realise who really she is and what her role is in the world they live in."

Here are some pictures.
