Lenovo began their Lenovo Tech World event in San Francisco yesterday with a flurry of announcements and product unveilings, covering areas ranging from fitness to 3D printing to augmented reality. Since its acquisition of Motorola in 2014, the company has had a strong presence in the smartphone world. They are now tapping into other sectors as well.

Here is the set of announcements made by Lenovo:

Project Tango Phone

As a part of Project Tango with Google, which is an augmented reality -- or a 3D mapping -- project for smartphones, Lenovo released a new phone called Lenovo Phab2 Pro. The $499-phone has the capability and the software to build augmented reality around the user. Lenovo demonstrated how one can make a kitchen in an empty space using the phone.

The Phab2 Pro has an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor and 4050 mAh battery. It will come with Dolby atmos 5.1 capability, when it is available globally in September.

3D Printed Smart Shoes

Wearables are a growing segment and Lenovo doesn't want to be left behind. So, they have partnered with Intel to produce a pair of shoes which are 3D printed. Possessing the smarts of a fitness band, these shoes can count your steps, the amount of calories burnt, the distance covered and more. The shoes come fitted with casual fitness games integrated with apps and LED lights.

Bendable Phones

Samsung is rumored to be making a bendable phone that it will launch in 2017 and Lenovo showed off their technology in this segment by unveiling a bracelet that acts as a phone. They also unveiled a foldable phone. The two projects respectively are known as Cplus and Folio.

Moto Z and Moto Z Force

One of the biggest announcements came from Lenovo owned Motorola, which has replaced its flagship 'X' line with two new phones, Moto Z and Moto Z Force. The 5.2 mm-thick slim phones can be connected to to snap-on modules on their back surface, offering additional functions such as a film projector. The new models also come without the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack and will use USB C headphones instead that connect to the charger port.

Other announcements

Lenovo also announced future business projects with Intel and a global networking partnership with Juniper. And, they also showed off a concept dock for Moto Z which has a hyper-charging a projector keyboard. On the evidence, Lenovo is making a big impact in the tech world.
