A Kerala-based company that constructed an educational institute that was name after Rajiv Gandhi in the state’s capital has filed an FIR against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, accusing her party of not making the payment even years after the completion of the project, according to a news report.

Apart from Sonia Gandhi, who inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Institute For Development Studies in 2005 in Thiruvananthapuram, Heather Constructions, the company that completed the construction of the institute, has also named former Kerala ministers of the Congress regime.

The company has named former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy and former home minister Ramesh Chennithala, who was the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president when the contract was awarded, in its complaint. Incumbent KPCC chief VM Sudheeran’s name also figures in the FIR.

A company insider told The Times of India that some the company filed the FIR after some Congress leaders started questioning the rationale behind setting up of the institute.
