Divine offerings can sometimes get you into a spot of earthly trouble, as the legendary music composer Ilayaraja discovered on Sunday.

Ilayaraja got into an extended showdown at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport after he was stopped by airport security because of some 'prasad' in his luggage.

According to a report in Times Of India, after visiting some temples in Mangaluru, Ilayaraja, with his son and other family members, was at the airport to take a flight home when the luggage scanner picked up broken pieces of coconut in his bag.

A security officer, apparently unaware who Illayaraja was, stopped his family members and asked the composer to step aside for further checking.

Reportedly, a minor scuffle ensued.

The situation deteriorated when Illayaraja's son Karthik Raja took photos of the security officer as the latter got angrier.

"The officer ensured the photos were deleted. The argument went on continuously. I stepped in and told the officers that the person was a legendary music composer with several national awards," a television journalist present at the scene told TOI.

After an extended showdown and some intervention from senior officers, a delayed flight left with the composer and his family on board.
