WATCH: Dharmendra's Iconic Song 'Hum Bewafa' Gets New Flavour With Tamil Rap

There are these perennial antakshari favourites--whether the players are 20-year-olds or 50-year-olds. And, one of them is definitely 'Hum Bewafa'--the song featured in the 1978 Bollywood blockbuster 'Shalimar'.

The iconic song is so etched in our memory that every time we hear it, we can practically see a melancholic Dharmendra standing by his window sill, while members of the local tribal population march below with their fire torches.

Not surprisingly, many versions of the song have been released over the years.

A new cover of the song, combined with Tamil rap by Dopeadelicz, a group of musicians who live in Dharavi in Mumbai, is doing the rounds on social media.

This is how the rap lyrics go in Tamil: "I made a mistake...I feel tortured in this loneliness. When I lost you and I lost my world."

While the rap lines fit into the song perfectly and give it a good makeover, the vocals doesn't quite meet expectations, more so because we have heard the song so many times and well, it's sung by Kishore Kumar.

The three musicians, inspired by the likes of Bob Marley, Snoop Dog, and Indian artistes such as Apache Indian and Raghav, wanted to start a desi rapping group for "stoners" like themselves. The group says that the purpose of their music is to "spread love, peace and dope.”

Dopeadelicz loves using and mixing up different languages in their music. One of the members Tony Sebastien a.k.a. Stony Psyko explained to The Hindu in an interview likening it to a "mix of flavours in a word soup from Mangalore to Mumbai."

“I speak Tamil at home, when I go outside I speak Hindi. When I am caught by the cops, I speak Marathi. When I go to school, I speak English. We mix up languages in our rap," Sebastien said.
