A taxi driver claims to have been thrashed by six people, all from Africa, in Delhi early Monday morning.

According to the driver, the incident took place at around 4 AM, when a group of six people of African origin hired his cab to go from Rajpur to Dwarka.

When the Ola Cabs driver, identified as one Nuruddin, refused allow more than four passengers in his vehicle, he was allegedly thrashed by them. The group included two women as well.

NDTV reported that the taxi driver suffered cuts and bruises near his left eye during the attack.

According to Zee News, a Rawandan woman who was with the group during the attack has been detained, while the other five are still on the run. The Delhi Police added that they have identified all the suspects and are pursuing the leads.

The attack is being looked upon as a possible retaliation for the lynching of a 23-year-old Congolese man in Delhi last Sunday.

Earlier this month, six Africans were allegedly attacked with cricket bats and sticks. A Nigerian student in Hyderabad was also beaten up by the local residents during a spat over parking space.
