Leaked Chat Says OnePlus 3 Will Be Launched On June 14

Smartphone maker OnePlus' next offering OnePlus 3 is set for a June 14 launch, according to a leaked chat between a company representative and a user. The executive gave away the date while chatting with the user.

Earlier, OnePlus announced that this year's launch will also take place through VR headsets that will be sent out in advance, just as last year's launch of OnePlus 2. However, this year the company is giving away LoopVR headsets to "up the ante" according to co-founder Carl Pei. The online registration for the headsets in India are scheduled for 3 and 7 June on Amazon at 12 PM.

A post in China's regulatory agency TENAA also leaked many of the specifications of the upcoming smartphone. OnePlus 3 will feature a metal body and an HTC like design. It will have a 5.5-inch full HD screen, and will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

There is uncertainty around some specifications. The phone may have a 4GB or 6GB RAM. The TENAA post suggested a 3500 mAh battery but in an earlier leak, Evan Blass on twitter suggested that battery will have 3000 mAh capacity. The phone will have NFC connectivity and 16 MP rear camera.

According to the reports and company officials, OnePlus is looking to ditch the invite system of sales altogether after facing a backlash over availability.
